As the title says. I’ve been having problems with YouTube and that small embedded BBC “click to play” Player all day. Not under IE or Chrome mind – just under Firefox 3. I’ve been struggling with all sorts of possible solutions – including diving head first into that awfully dark well that is the Windows Registry.
Before you do – DON’T!
No need to reinstall Flash. No need to update Firefox. No need to install Vista Service Pack 1. Just go to Firefox | Tools | Add-ons | Plugins | Shockwave Flash and press the Disable button. Then when it toggles to Enable, press the Enable button.
The sound on streaming video sites should now work.
This is the page I got the tip from, after much searching and hair-pulling (not much left to pull anyway):

not registeredHey Guys! I just wanted to throw something out there that if you do get no sound, this is what I tried. All I did was go into the Tools Window at the top and went to addons. I then went to plugins and disabled then enabled it and it fixed the sound. Try that if you get no sound from Firefox 3

Sir, you are a hero. Thanks.
My pleasure, Tom. Why? Did you have the same problem? I only noticed it yesterday morning when I went to your site and tried to watch the YouTube video you posted. I suppose it’s got something to do with the latest updates Microsoft has been pushing our way. You know the ones. Those which turn your computer off without warning in the middle of that very complicated email. :-)
